Brawn GP - Mercedes set to make F1 announcement

While typing this the Mercedes board are about to make an announcement regarding it's F1 future. It's muted that the announcement will be in regards to their buy in of the Brawn GP team. Specualtion is rife this morning that they will also announce the driver line up and that Jenson may even be on the move to McLaren to partner Lewis. I don't understand the move personally as this would move Brawn GP backwards in the garage allocation with JB taking the 1 and 2 numbers to McLaren. Why would Mercedes buy into BGP to strengthen their grasp on the ownership of an F1 team only to push out the driver the team is built around?

Brawn GP - Mercedes Benz Buying In?

Well speculation has been rife over the past few days about a rumoured deal with Mercedes. It appears this may be coming to fruition with Mercedes taking an equity share in the team much like they have with McLaren. I have been waiting for some reliable sources to go live with the rumour and now we have one see here: www.autosport.com

'Reports first emerged about the plans this morning in The Daily Telegraph, and sources have confirmed to AUTOSPORT that talks are at an advanced stage for the car company to take a shareholding in the team.'

'Mercedes-Benz itself denied that the plan was for a full-blown buyout of Brawn, but did not rule out an equity-type deal.'
