Brawn GP - Interlagos - Race

Jenson and Brawn GP took both the drivers and constructors championships in an awesome race that saw Jenson storm from 14th to 5th. I'm still away on holiday and the bar where we are staying was due to play the football whilst the race was on. We managed to blag them to change it for the GP :) What a race! Jenson made some amazing overtakes into turn 1 cementing the reason why he is now the drivers champion. Rubens was unfortunate to get a puncture late on in the race which dropped him too far down the order for him to continue his championship challenge. Meanwhile with both Brawn drivers scoring it left RBR with no chance of winning the constructors title even with Webber doing a sterling job to win the race.

RealBrawnGP.com - Phil does Bangers 4 Ben

Phil over at http://www.realbrawngp.com/ is partaking in Bangers4Ben. Here's what he wrote:

Bangers4BEN is an industry event, where those in the motor trade gather together in some old, knackered car and thrash it to within an inch of its life. Or beyond.

With a spending limit of £250 (€290/$415), to include the car, repairs, MOT, etc., the journey could be tough. Ah yes, the journey - it's that famous run from, er, Ascot to John O'Groats. We'll then turn round and head to Brands Hatch, where we'll put in a few celbratory laps.

All of this will be done in November, where the rain/snow will undoubtedly play its part.

Finally, once we've finished, all the cars will be sent to BCA Auctions to be sold off.

It's all a great deal of fun, but there's a very serious point. All proceeds, including form the auction sales, will go to BEN, the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund, and we'll be stopping off at one of their residential homes to brighten up a few peoples day. to see the work BEN does, take a look at BEN.org.uk.

We're now planning our attack, and already have support from some people, including Mitchell Signs who supported us in our previous Staples2Naples rally effort for SPARKS.

We'll obviously be taking donations for BEN before too long but, in the meantime, we'll also gladly take offers of support for the rally. Especially if you have an early Ford Mondeo saloon in blue. Then we'd really like to hear from you!

Should you feel the need to give to this very worthy cause please see here:

Suzuka - Post Qualifying Grid

Ruben's and Jenson along with Alonso, Sutil and Buemi have all received a 5 place grid penalty for the incident regarding Buemi and waved yellow flags. Heikki has also changed his gearbox along with Luizzi, Glock didn't put a time in Q3 so is demoted to the rear of the grid should he be fit. So how does the grid shape up now? Well we are all a little confused with the grid as so many people are moving backwards and forwards. The biggest problem I have working out the grid is the order in who takes the penalties as this will also effect the order in which they drop down the grid. I have worked it out in 3 different ways so far so i'm not going to post anything all I will say is I don't think it will hurt BGP too badly.

Brawn GP - Qualifying - Suzuka

Qualifying was a drmatic event with 3 red flag incidents making the Q2 and Q3 sessions very stop, start affairs. Degner seems to be an area that is affecting car stability as the weight shifts forward the cars are bottomining out and heading off line onto the curbing, as soon as this occurs the car is basically becoming a train using the kerb as it's track and sending the drivers off onto the gravel. (Due to FP1 and 2 being washed out, little setup work has been done, it appears some of the teams have gone to far with their adjustments and set the car too low so when they do come into Degner unstablised in braking they are losing control)
Jaime bought Q2 to a halt as he headed straight off the circuit at Degner head on into the barriers. Q2 resumed with a few drivers venturing back out only to be compromised again by another red flag. This time Timo had headed off circuit and found his Toyota wedged in the tyre wall of the final corner. Timo was flown to hospital with an injured leg. Q2 continued with BGP leaving it to the last minute to re-emmerge only giving Jense and Rube's enough time for 1 flying lap. Both times are now in question by the race stewards as whilst they were putting in these flying laps Sebastian Buemi put his car in the wall just before 130R, he will also be under investigation as he continued to drive the stricken Torro Rosso around the circuit back to the pits with a missing front wing, side damage and a punctured rear tyre. The yellow flags were waving during this time putting into question the 2 BGP drivers times.
Q3 born yet a further red flag with Heikki hitting the tyre wall at Degner in a similar but not so fast accident as Jaime already had. This once again compromised everyone's qualifying strategies and left BGP to do one flying lap once again bringing in a 5th for Rubens and 7th for Jenson.

Tomorrows race is tee'd up to be a fantastic race now, I await the fuel loads to see how the pit stops may play into everyone's strategies. The other things to consider are Jarno in 2nd place will almost certainly be overtaken off the grid by Lewis's KERS enabled McLaren and since for the first time in a while Jarno won't be able to select a fuel load can he keep relative pace? or will the Trulli train have 17 other frustrated passengers behind him whilst he protects his tyres and position? Factor in that due to Parc Ferme rules no height adjustments will occur on the cars could we have further Degner casualties? Prompting the lengthy inclusion of the safety car?

Brawn GP - Practice 3 - Suzuka

Practice 3 was to be the first time the field had the chance to run Suzuka in the dry, Webber had an incident in Degner that finished his session and prevented him running in qualifying too. Great news for Brawn GP elevating their chances of taking the Constructors Title here at Suzuka.

Brawn GP - Suzuka - Practice 2

Not much to comment on with a rain lashed Suzuka circuit providing little action for almost all the teams. Brawn GP decided better to conserve the wet weather tyres and didn't tun in the session at all.

About Me

I have been an F1 fan from a very early age, however in my very early years I didn't really support a team just loved the racing. Since the BAR years I have been supporting this team through it's highs and lows. I'm confident under Ross Brawn's control the team will go from strength to strength and hopefully Jenson and Rubens can find themselves in a competitive car once more.
